About Us

RUET Alumni Association (RUETAA) was conceptually established during early 80’s to assemble all graduate engineers coming out from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), the second oldest engineering institution of the country. This institution started its function in 1964 as Engineering College, Rajshahi, and then it was upgraded to Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Rajshahi in 1986, and finally as RUET in 2003. To an estimate, around 15,000 Engineers have done graduation from this pride institute in 47 Series. They all are potential members of RUETAA.

Most of the Engineers of first few Series have already retired from services. Many RUETAA members have climbed up very successfully in business as well as in services. To note, RUETAA members rose up to the highest level at Government offices as secretary and heads or top of different Govt./Semi-Govt. organization. RUETAA members have also done excellent as entrepreneurs and now leading many major companies/institutions in the country as well as overseas.

RUETAA is a nonpolitical and social welfare organization and is in the process of registration in Ministry of Social Welfare, GoB. Although RUETAA was conceptually formed long back, practically it has been functioning actively since a decade or so. This organization is operated by an elected executive committee for duration of two years. As per its constitution, goal and objective of RUETAA are:

  • Work as a non-political professional and welfare organization irrespective of party affiliation.
  • Take up activities at home and abroad for the development of science and engineering technology.
  • Help enhance the quality of profession.
  • Uphold the professional ethics, policies and values.
  • Exchange professional knowledge among members.
  • Protect professional interest of the members.
  • Work on the welfare of the members.
  • Exchange of issues of mutual interests with professional organizations and engineering institutions at home and abroad, and apply those for the interest of the country and profession.
  • Organize Engineers in country-building work.
  • Work to preserve the professional rights of the Engineers and promote social, economic and cultural standards.
  • Add new ideas to the development of the country and develop creative talents.
  • Participate in various social welfare activities.

Engineers from RUET do have their own clubs/associations based on Series. RUETAA members have formed association in many corners of the world and organizing regular get-togethers and social welfare activities. All such associations converse into a common platform of RUETAA
